Nancy Smith, LMT, Registered Ayurvedic Clinician
Nancy Smith L.M.T. is the founder & director of Essence of Self Ayurveda Spa for Massage, Yoga and a Healthy Lifestyle. She is a NJ licensed massage therapist, Nationally Board Certified and Approved CEU Provider and a Registered Advanced Ayurvedic Practitioner through the Association of Ayurvedic Professionals of North America (AAPNA), a certified Kripalu Yoga Teacher, and a Level III Reiki Master. Nancy Smith has been actively practicing and teaching Yoga and Ayurveda since 1999.
Nancy received her Yoga and Ayurvedic certifications from the Kripalu Schools of Ayurveda and Yoga (MA). She received her Marma certification (Ayurvedic Acupressure) from the Ayurvedic Institute (NM), her Integrated Massage certification from the Lehigh Valley Healing Arts Academy (PA) and her Level III Reiki Master Practitioner from Dogca Wellness Center (NJ) in conjunction with learning her teaching techniques by assisting a seven day Reiki program at Kripalu with Reiki Master Libby Barnet, assisting her with Reiki I, II and being Reiki.
Nancy became a Panchakarma Massage Specialist at Greens Ayurvedic Hospital, Mahe, Kerala, India in 2007. This experience in India allows her to apply the essence of authentic Indian panchakarma massage modified for the optimal American experience. She has been a dedicated Yoga Instructor and Reiki Master Teacher since 2001. She continues advanced Ayurvedic studies in addition to advanced Yoga Studies with MeriLynn Blum, MA, MAT, RYT (peacefulyoga.com) and a 700 hour Yoga Therapist through International Institute of Yoga Therapy with Nancy Candea. Nancy is a practitioner member of the Associated Bodywork & Massage Professionals, the Kripalu Yoga Teachers Association and the International Yoga Alliance. In addition to running her Ayurveda Spa, Nancy gives massages for students at Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck, teaches Reiki trainings at the Ridgewood Y.M.C.A., and lectures and teaches for Ramapo College’s Human Resources, 200 hour School of Yoga (Professor’s Carol Bowman and James Morley) and the Yoga Experience Club. Nancy also ministers as a Seton Associate through the Sisters of Charity in Convent Station, NJ providing services to people with AIDS and cancers.
