Al Turner II, LMT, NMT, RTT
Al is a native New Yorker and LMT; licensed in NYS and Florida and nationally certified with the NCBTMB since 1998. He is a graduate of the High School of Music and the Arts of New York, NY; holds a BFA in Graphic Design/Fine Arts from Eastern New Mexico University; Portales, NM and has a degree in Western and Eastern massage from Sarasota School of Massage Therapy, FL.
Al taught and worked in the graphics and professional dance theater world for over 30 years; most notably employed by Ogilvy & Mather and, as a Simonson Jazz Dance instructor; trained by Jazz Dance pioneer Lynn Simonson. He began massage therapy in 1995; studying with renowned anatomist Irene Dowd and Thai massage teachers Libba Harriman, Michelle Manna and Rose Griscom.
Al is a certified practitioner in Thai massage and neuromuscular therapy, with an extensive background in Swedish/Deep Tissue Massage, Connective Tissue Release and Movement Education. Certified as a teacher of Thai Massage/Nuad Bo-Rarn; Al continues annual study in Thailand with indigenous master teachers and at schools recognized by the Thai Ministry of Education such as: Pichest Boonthumme, Mama Nit, Lek Chaiya, Thai Massage School of Chaingmai, Institute of Thai Massage, Thai Massage School for Health and, Lanna Thai Massage School where he studied the ancient Thai Yoga of Luesee Dud Ton. In 2010 he was invited as one of the foremost Thai massage teachers in the United States to present his research on Arterial Compression/Opening the Wind Gates at the Thai Medical Symposium hosted by the Thai Institute of Healing Arts; Arlington, Va.; the sister school of the famous Thai Massage School ShivakaKomarpaj in Chiangmai, Thailand.
Al is currently a professor of Thai Massage at several NY colleges. He also continues to offer Thai massage throughout the country and internationally through his school of Two Souls Thai Massage (tstm).
