Dr. Toni LaSala, PhD, LMT is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Kinesiology at William Paterson University. Join her as she teaches rescuers to effectively recognize and treat adult emergencies in the critical first minutes until emergency medical services personnel arrive. This course incorporates the latest science and integrates First Aid, CPR and the use of an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED). You will learn to recognize and care for a variety of first aid emergencies such as:
- Burns
- Cuts
- Scrapes
- Sudden illnesses
- Head injuries
- Neck injuries
- Back injuries
- Heat related emergencies
- Cold related emergencies
- Breathing emergencies
- Cardiac emergencies
You will be able to help victims of any age. The pediatric curriculum covers infants and children up to 12 years of age. The adult curriculum covers those of about 12 years and older. Students who successfully complete this course will receive a certificate for Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED valid for two years.
