Knowing gross anatomy is key to a successful practice along with precise palpation skills. This workshop will review all major muscles of the body with demonstrations and practice time dedicated to palpation and function. This is the perfect class if you have been out of school for a while and want to brush up on your palpation skills. This fun interactive workshop will empower you to precise palpation and reviewing of your gross anatomy.
Learning Objectives:
- Students will review the basic of muscle tissue anatomy, and the sarcomere, muscle fiber arrangement, and fast vs. slow twitch fibers
- Students will re-visit major muscle groups throughout the body to re-acquaint themselves with the muscles’ attachments
- Students will review actions of all major muscles
- Students will palpate all the major muscles throughout the body
- Students will perform a guided ‘intentional’ massage that will bring attention to the muscles
- Students will learn the difference between palpation and muscle testing
