It’s not just the increased revenue, which is nice; it’s also about how well the ability to use heated stones to sculpt muscle and provide exceptional deep tissue work fits into a great massage therapy session. Unfortunately, many facilities here in New Jersey have been cautious about offering Hot Stone Massage lately, and with good reason: many burns and injuries have been reported. As the longest-running massage school in NJ we are very experienced at maintaining awareness of what is happening in our industry. To counter the bad press and a recent rash of insurance mandates we are excited to offer a small, personalized Hot Stone training that will more than fulfill the recent educational requirements added by professional massage organizations. Our instructor, Kathy McCready, has unparalleled experience and training. After studying with Mary Nelson, who in 1993 re-invented hot stone massage and brought it out of obscurity and into popularity, Kathy became lead Hot Stone therapist for an illustrious FIVE Diamond Hotel. There she developed their signature approach to Hot Stone therapy where it was applied by many therapists performing multiple sessions per day. She has taught our entire staff here at New Jersey Massage, and the education was exceptional. From a brief history of hot stone usage and a comprehensive review of protocols needed to set up a great practice, to the specific routines you will employ and the specialized therapeutic techniques you will learn, Kathy will help you develop and successfully administer a hot stone practice.
