The iliopsoas is one of the most important, and often misunderstood, muscles in the body. As the primary hip flexor, it plays a critical role in posture, movement, low back function, and chronic pain patterns. Dysfunction in this area can affect everything from gait and athletic performance to low back, hip, and pelvic discomfort.
This live, 8-CEU workshop is designed for both beginner and advanced massage therapists. The class blends clear anatomical understanding with extensive hands-on practice.
Students will learn where the iliopsoas is located, how it functions, its synergists and antagonists, and the common issues associated with dysfunction in this area. Emphasis is placed on what to feel, what to observe, and what questions to ask clients in order to work safely and effectively. Hands-on instruction will guide students through assessment, treatment techniques, client positioning, therapist body mechanics, contraindications, and follow-up care.
