This 16-hour (two day) course presents a systematic, anatomy-and-kinesiology-based approach to soft tissue treatment for pain and dysfunction. It teaches students to use clinical reasoning based on assessment and provides a solid foundation for applying rehabilitative massage techniques to a variety of tissue types and conditions. All demonstration and practice sessions are accompanied by clear visuals of the relevant anatomy.
The course covers concepts and goals in rehabilitative massage, a detailed review of the composition, characteristics, and common injuries and conditions affecting soft tissues, as well as an update on the science of pain and inflammation. Students will learn and practice a full spectrum of foundational and advanced techniques to address the myofascial system from the superficial to the deepest layers. These include techniques that utilize shortening or lengthening of tissues, client movement, and assisted stretching. There will be time to address specific client cases provided by participants..
