AN INTRODUCTION TO OUR SCHOOL

Thank you for your inquiry about the North Jersey Massage Training Center. The profession of massage therapy is fulfilling, admirable, and charged with antiquity. If you are like those of us at NJMTC, you have a need to do meaningful, caring work, and are looking for a way to blend your vocation with the way you fulfill your spirit, your destiny. Learning how to become a healer in the massage tradition affirms our own lives, and brings us joy as we uplift and inspire those we serve.

Our aim at NJMTC is to help you educate and empower your touch. We have worked for nearly 25 years to develop a unique and innovative program that merges Eastern and Western philosophies, knowledge, and techniques. What sets us apart from any other school is the way in which we have developed the practice of blending Eastern & Western Massage Therapy with Clinical Bodywork, popularly known as "Medical Massage Therapy".

From the Eastern side, our program focuses on the energetic bodywork known as Shiatsu. Based on 5,000 years of Asian philosophy, history, and empirical study, Shiatsu uses the same principles of Ki (energy) movement and meridian lines of energy flow that make acupuncture and martial arts so effective. We will guide you through an understanding of Asian massage theory to give you a basis for your understanding of how energy travels through and innervates the human body.

From the West, we begin with instruction in Swedish Massage Therapy. Great for relaxation and stress reduction; and well known for its wide range of physical, mental and emotional benefits; Swedish massage is the most popular technique of choice in most Spas and Holistic facilities.

Building on the foundation of Swedish & Shiatsu Massage, we then springboard you to a more sophisticated level by providing an in-depth training in Clinical Bodywork. Most recently and popularly known as "Medical Massage", this modality employs a wide range of Neuromuscular/Deep Tissue and Myofascial Techniques to effectively address specific common complaints from head to toe.

We further integrate the science & art of massage therapy with a comprehensive study of practice management. It is not enough to give a great massage. You must also learn how to manage, market, and create a successful practice. It is good to learn from people who have done just that. Also housed at our school location is New Jersey Massage, a working massage therapy facility where many of our instructors practice professionally. Our students benefit from first-hand exposure to the operation of a professional practice in this setting.

Also among our unique qualities is an interwoven introduction to holistically healthy lifestyle. This is achieved by showing you the basics of Yoga, TaiChi, ChiGong, Nutrition, Breath-work and Meditation. Our program is an experience that tempers you into a strong and effective massage & bodywork therapist while strengthening your Body, Mind and Spirit.
