The North Jersey
Massage Training Center has been located at the Parsippany Medical Center
since 1980. Our school is owned and operated by master massage therapists.
Combining Eastern and Western massage techniques and mindsets, our center
has distinguished its holistic and innovative approach to body work. Our
Continuing Education Classes seek to assist massage therapists in personal
and professional growth. We provide vital and pertinent information to
increase knowledge, variety of techniques and the ability to meet the
client’s needs.
Dear Friends and Colleagues, We know medical massage therapy is hands down, the most effective modality for almost anything soft tissue. So did Dr. Janet Travell and Bonnie Prudden, the mothers of modern trigger point therapy, and for all intensive purposes; the mothers of modern day massage therapy. Nearly every massage teacher in the world draws on Travell’s work. So just because sciatic pain and piriformis syndrome can be alleviated in four to six sessions with sophisticated massage, and it takes the rest of the medical profession three to six months, doesn’t mean the insurance companies are paying attention. So with a crazy economy squeezing the daylights out of us and our profession, what are we to do? My meditation teacher Hilda Charlton used to say, “We’ll take what we get and we’ll make what we want.” It was her way of saying adjust to what is given, go with the flow, and summon up your innate God given power to create a new vision of your reality. Of course, a person with a vision for their future has a future filled with vision. I recently taught a weekend workshop at a very hip school, the Massage Arts Center of Philadelphia. On the bulletin board it simply said; “Adapt, overcome, improvise.” USMC I thought about this quote all that weekend because a) its brilliant and b) its original word order by the U.S. Marines was adapt, improvise, overcome, also a really empowering suggestion. The Philadelphia schools version takes on a spiritual dimension for me and perhaps a lesson for how our fledgling profession of massage is to deal with a seemingly bankrupt economy. The quote here is not referring to overcoming the enemy outside of you, in this order, it’s about overcoming the enemy inside; the fear that grips and immobilizes you, threatens your security thus your ego, has you play victim over and over again, it persuades you to give away your power, to react instead of act. Eleanor Roosevelt said, “No one can make you feel bad without your permission.”
This bulletin and these courses being offered contain some of the most powerful and transformational classes we have ever offered. They might just hold a key for your career, for your re-tooling and of course, they will fulfill your state and national continuing education requirements. They are not just offered to massage therapists, nurses or health practitioners, but to anyone with a need to fulfill their prime directive to grow and serve. America is about to dramatically transform and so will we. Join us, our continuing education classes are wonderful and our mission completely sincere. The Marines are taught, from day one, to consider any impediment merely a temporary distraction from the objective and that when things look impossible, you just have to get more creative and step up.
